President Obama signed into law the JOBS Act on April 5, 2012 which includes groundbreaking crowdfunding legislation that opens up investment in start-ups to anyone—not just accredited investors




White House Social Innovation Fund
White House Social Innovation Fund combines public and private resources to grow promising community-based solutions that have evidence of results in any of three priority areas: economic opportunity, healthy futures, and youth development. It makes grants to experienced grantmaking “intermediaries” that are well-positioned within communities to identify the most promising programs and guide them towards greater impact and stronger evidence of success.  These grants typically range from $1-5 million annually for up to five years.


Civic Sponsor
CivicSponsor is an online crowdfunding platform that enables individuals to fund local public projects through tax-deductible contributions. Individuals only pay when the project is fully funded. Types of projects CivicSponsor funds are parks, bike lanes, and other public works community projects.
